Wes Craven has since disowned the movie. I always let out a groan of disappointment when a sequel replaces civilian characters with the military. I don't mean that it sounds similar, or it sounds like someone re- recorded the score. In my mind, 'Aliens' was the only movie to successfully make such a transition, due to James Cameron's talent, not simply for directing the best action sequences around, but never forgetting that an audience has to care about the people being butchered. Soldiers are always so lazily written and never fail to thoroughly bore with crude caricatures of strutting macho bullshit.
The Hills Have Eyes 2 is a 2007 released horror thriller movie directed by Martin Weisz while featuring Daniella Alonso, Jacob Vargas, Michael Bailey Smith in the movie. It's no wonder Craven later disowned this film. However, because of a mistake they are late and decide to take a shortcut through the desert. The latter half of the movie becomes just another tedious chased-through-dark-corridors scenario. I do not know why so many people dog this film. Synopsis A team of trainees of the National Guard brings supply to the New Mexico Desert for a group of soldiers and scientists that are installing a monitoring system in Sector 16. The neolithic looking desert is still creepy as hell, a foot chase through the rocky cliffs between a couple of the bikers and Pluto is good also, and a couple of other good scenes are scattered throughout, but that can't hide the fact that, for all its explosions and chases, there's really just not a lot going on here, and there is surprisingly little tension or bloodshed. When their bus breaks down, they end up in the same area where the first film took place, and are set upon by two survivors of the cannibal family from the earlier film.
I do not believe this ever had any type of proper film score written and recorded for it. For what it's worth, our heroine Tamara Stafford ends up being a blind girl who has some kind of extrasensory perception, though the script doesn't really make novel use of that idea. Then the mutants go after the rest. That's right, in the annals of horror movie stupidity, there has never been a moment to top the lunacy of the Carter family dog having a flashback to some of the events he witnessed in the original film! Other than that, it's terrible. It's a tame and tired excuse for a sequel and deserves to spend the rest of its life in a Blockbuster's bargain bin.
I mean, this must have had the most unenthusiastic film shoot in history. While trying to repair the bus, some of the group wander off, and wind up in the traps of the survivors of the mutant family of the first. They do not find anybody in the camp, and they receive a blurred distress signal from the hills. Strange that he makes no mention of Jupiter having a brother. When A Nightmare on Elm Street became a box office success, the studio convinced Craven to finish Hills Have Eyes Part 2 using only the footage that had already been shot.
Yes there was more violence, gore, and a higher body count than the first one but I am still am debating whether that cancels out my feeling throughout the whole movie about how ridiculous it is and not a good ridiculousness like Dead Alive or Feast. He was also ably assisted by some genuinely talented actors. And only a few resourceful and fearless guys will be able to get out of the maze of old mines and survive. After filming most - but not all - of the original script, the backers reneged and pulled funding before it could be completed, leaving the unfinished film to languish on a shelf somewhere for a spell. They do not find anybody in the camp, and they receive a blurred distress signal from the hills. With 'The Hills have Eyes 2', it's clear that video director Martin Weisz is no James Cameron, and the cast of television bit-parters haven't the talent or even the inclination to turn their cardboard cutout characters into anything approaching living, breathing human beings. Am letzten Übungstag fährt ein Kadettenteam der Nationalgardisten um Sergeant Jeffrey Millstone Flex Alexander zu einem Außenposten in der von Atomtests zerkraterten Wüste.
