The thin black ground wire was broken and after repairing it all was back to normal. I then went inside the vehicle and gently tugged on the the wire I was looking for and was able to pull it inside the vehicle. Am I looking at a very expensive fix? Don't bother getting the fluid flushed, its not going to help at all and might actually be the finisher that kills this off. But third gearis non existent, just freewheels, rpms will simply increase and speed will drop. Mike, it's hard for me to believe you're playing a game with me. I personally think that the intermediate band has broken or the intermediate servo has failed.
If there are any cracks that may or may not be leaking, most times, transmission should be replaced. I'm glad you got it fixed. First I attempted to loosen the intermediate band nut to no avail. I had the check charging system light come on right after. I am mechanically inclined but never changed an auto trans before. That is why it kept working.
Never had this issue before. I tried to replace the switches in the drivers door and this did not work. Well, if I was monkeying around I wouldn't have given you all the info I gave. There is every chance the solenoid has failed. I did take her back to stock and left her there.
This procedure may vary between manufacturers. Interior lights gauges, glove box light all work. The fluid did not smell burnt. If the vehicle has more than 80,000 miles and it was in my shop I would recomend overhaul due to cronic wear concerns with these transmissions. Started up right away and drove off. Let me know what you find.
I did all the work in my very limited spare time and it was running awesome. I am in no mood to rebuild the tranny. At the same time, on a high scale, check between either 3 or 11 and a good, clean, ground, perhaps scratch a shiny spot on the vehicle frame. Most likely your trans is on the way out and you need a new one. Check all fuses to include those in the power distribution box under the hood.
. Get under the vehicle with a D. Take it to Stealership to scan and I got the p0731 code. My bet is on the band. . Ive searched the net for this problem with someone with an f150 but to no avail. .
Recently all 4 windows stopped working. If you are getting power to the main switch and not the other switches, there has to be a break in the wiring between the two. I hope I'm not explaining something here that's already cold turkey for you. After realizing my uncle had a transmisson shop I said lets go, he said he would give me a hand. This is pretty much what happens on a hill unless you downshift and gas it up in mph then do the throttle trick to get the explorer to skip 3rd and drop into 4th.
I was close to the house and I made it home but now I'm at a loss. I found 3 broken wires and repaired them. I have an additional problem I am trying to figure out. The car is well maintained, regular trans flush etc. My aunt's mountaineer has gotten 5k miles on 4 vehicle disabeling transmission problems. I'd start saving for a new trans or saving for a new truck. I'm betting on the other, solenoid problem.
If you still can't find any broken wires, here is a great link for troubleshooting the power windows, thanks to theofam for this great link I have this downloaded and can email it upon request. Connect gauge to the test port and start vehicle. While not cheap is this in the realm of reasonable? Like I side, it has a lot of information, but don't let someone sell you something until you exhaust the other posibilities. The fact that it tries to shift to 3rd tells me the computer sent the signal, the solenoid worked, the shift valve moved, the overdrive band released, the intermediate band should come on but can't. Could it be a switch? Refer to service manual for codes that would be priority. Good luck, George I had level 2 programing.
