Sport mode, auto stick, hard acceleration letting it shift on its own till i got to about 95. Took out for a test spin, and when I'm accelerating and release the gas pedal it jerks as it's downshifting and throws up the P0730, P0700 code. Thankfully I keep a code reader with me and once I got pulled over and stopped I was able to clear it. I have just under 15k on the car now. I found out that this codes relates to transmission and I called the shop and mentioned the code. I'm surprised to find out that automatic transmission on 2002 Odyssey has been defective to begin with! So, This time I didn't clear the codes.

You will need a transmission jack but you might be able to rent one instead of buying one, this should save you some money. Those transmissions aren't known for problems like their V6 counterparts, that said you might be able to pick up a low milage transmission from a salvage yard instead of purchasing a new or rebuilt one. I had the vehicle serviced for the 112,000 mile service recently.
I was thinking I would give the guys at Auto Zone a try. If the plug wires are out of sequence, the explosion occurs at the wrong time. I went to nearby Honda dealer for a diagnosis and they told me its a transmission issue and need a replacement. Valve Body was replaced shortly after my 2nd post in this thread. Removal seems a lot easier. Still need to do the timing belt too so decisions decisions.
I have done a lot of maintenance on this car and would like to keep it running if at all possible as it is otherwise in great shape. The dealer said I had about 24 codes stored. These babies are known as preemies or premmies. He too said it was the transmission control system, and that we shouldn't need a new transmission, so take it to Honda and get them to look at it. It could be a solenoid that got wet and it is shorted. Noticed it was not responding correctly. It was P0730 and it was in there twice.
Low or dirty transmission problem is probably the most common cause of this error code. Thus, by simply replacing the dirty fluid, the issue can be resolved. P0730 Just happened to me Friday night. I am not sure what to check or test next as I am pretty sure it is not the transmission itself because it worked fine before and it works for the first few miles and then it has problems. The dealer charged my battery and sent me on my way. Old and dirty fluid must be replaced.

If the code comes back, then the problem is really caused by an actual failure in the transmission. I do not know what to do since we cannot afford this right now. They insisted it was a fluke glitch. They gave me a list of them all and cleared the codes.
