It holds the shift rods. When you first start the engine and it is cold, you will hear the pistons rocking back and forth in the bore, giving off a clackity sound. The tabs welded on the end of the shift rods keep the transfer case from being shifted in to front wheel low range and rear wheel high range at the same time and vice versa. Piston-to-wall clearance is the area between the piston and the cylinder wall. The original D300 cover is now installed over the flip kit adapter.
I chose not to repaint the case black so if any leaks develop, I can see them easier. Saves your transfer case from death!! The shift rods and forks are installed. And no one managed to cure it yet. The leaks supposedly were caused by failing to clean the mating surfaces of the front and rear cases well enough before applying sealant at the factory. All of this can happen on your engine build after only 15- 20 thousand miles.
If that isnt the problem then the case itself is flexing, which I might be able to solve as well with a fatter mount that is more likely to resist twisting. All parts listed are aftermarket replacement parts. Next, the assembles shaft is placed in the case and the large gear and clutch sleeve are added to the front output shaft assembly. That's all great but, with 563 hp under the hood, we just want to see this thing go fast. It has 5 positions for clocking the D300. The gear is being pressed on the the input shaft. The old case was looking tired. This transfer case is compact, light, durable, simple to build and capable. The case is steel, so a repaint was in order to keep rust at bay. I love driving my Mazda, but I will never buy another. I then used my aluminum block to get the front bearing started on the shaft.
This is a part supplied in the flip kit Now, the intermediate shaft is slipped in to the case and through the intermediate gear. Here, I am pressing the forward bearing race in to the freshly painted housing. However, 2618 has proved to be stronger and can take much more abuse detonation.
Our rebuilt transfer cases include all new bearings, gaskets, seals, chains clutch and viscous couplers where used. Service records required showing proper maintenance. If you need someone to have the parts made, i can have them made too. It's fun, but you need to be careful. If they just say to bring it in, voice your concern one more time, and then do whatever they ask of you.
